"We are very much proud to present the Japanese miracle GL 400 also here in
Ukraine. This byke is here since more than 10 years and still working well.
There are only two of them in Ukraine and a couple in Europe, so we quite
proud of this mashine! Let us know".

My long way to GL400!

Well, I will start perhaps from my first bike: it was russian model IG-49 (1954), I believe, it will past to the subject of site. I foung this bike in small factory village. The bike has survived his first owner, therefore it was in quite shabby conditions.

We got on with this bike very quickly: I was taking care of him and puting it into the order and this bike was telling me about his preceding owner. It was good, careful motorbiker and also very much tidy mechanic. All unit were correctly adjusted and for such an age of the bike it was not too bad. I had to only clean it up and a little bit make up. After travelling around all the nearby surroundings I just wanted to get into somewhere further, a little forward and here I saw the advertisemnet on selling GL 400. Thus the second bike appeared to be in my garage. After reoiling and "making up" a little bit I get off directky to Kiew (Capital of the Ukraine) to reveal my "treasure" to friends and it was simply necessary to get somewhere very far away!

In first day I have done 300 km and decided to stop in Dnepropetrovsk: this evening it was bikers meeting, but it was more spectators than bikers there and, therefore, it was more noise than fun.

So then on the next morning I appeared to be on the highway and my loneliness seemed to me as blessing!

Till Kiew it was no special adventures on my way and it was getting dark, when I drove into the city and ... of couurse, I could not withstand to the feeling not to drive through the central street of Kiew.

I cannot even explain why I needed that: but at that time it was necessary for me. I agreed with my friends to meet me at the Catholic Church, and meanwhile waiting for them I was practising with my fotocamera. Up untill now this facade excites me so far, challanging for the trip to Europe.

I decided to drive home from Kiew without overnight stay somewere: I very much wanted to test the bike amd myself too. From Kiew to Donetsk - my home city - it was a long way in 800 km.

The bike standed this challange with honour: we got to our destinationin 12 hours, halting only at the filling stationts and maybe only for a half an hour I stoped in the forest in Poltava - it was so nice and perfect there!

After I having got bolder and making sure in the reliability of the bike on the following season I have got out for a long term trip over Crimea also making a stop on Kauantip cape - it was annyal youth festival and a lot of motorbikers from the nearest countries of previous USSR were presented there.

So at the moment my bike, as fa as I do, so we both are looking forward the new season!
